Duluth, GA, in West Central Gwinnett County, offers a higher quality of life than most suburban cities of similar size. Duluth, Georgia, formerly known as Howell's Cross Roads, was chartered in 1876, incorporated in 1906 as the fourth city in Gwinnett County and named after the Minnesota City that honored French Captain and Explorer, Daniel Grey Sieur du Lhut.  More recently, it has been named among the best affordable suburbs in America by Businessweek, Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for the city's commitment to the revitalization and management of the downtown and neighborhood commercial district, Best in the Region for Events and Creative Efforts by the Southeastern Festivals and Events Association among other accolades.

Duluth is Smart for Business

The city is accessible to other Metro Atlanta areas via by Interstate 85, Georgia Highway 400, Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and multiple mass transit options. The center of Atlanta is roughly 27 miles away while the distance to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is approximately 35 miles.
  • Opportunity Zones - Businesses locating to at the intersection of Interstate 85 and Pleasant Hill Road, the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District, just south of the city may qualify for a tax credit of $3500 per full time job.
  • Tax Allocation District - Certain expenses of businesses locating to that same intersection that support some projects with a substantial public benefit may be eligible for other financial assistance.
The accredited Duluth Police Department also leads the local Citizens Police Academy, safety classes and several other initiatives that help keep residents informed and safe while five weather sirens advise of dangerous weather conditions. Duluth is home to Gwinnett Medical Center, one of two premier Gwinnett County healthcare facilities and one of the largest county employers.
