Swedish Meatballs

Here's a wonderful recipe for Swedish Meatballs.  It's a fairly simple recipe that cooks of any skill level may be able to prepare with ease.

Meatball IngredientsSour Cream Gravy Ingredients
1/4 cup PANKO Bread Crumbs
5 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons of milk
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 lb. ground beef
2 cups of beef broth
1/2 pound ground pork
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon parsley chopped
Salt & pepper
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1 cup sour cream
    1 egg

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon Pepper

1/4 teaspoon allspice

1/4 teaspoon ground Nutmeg

   1 tablespoon vegetable oil


  1. Soak PANKO Bread Crumbs in milk until softened.  
  2. In a medium sized bowl, combine ground beef, pork, soaked bread crumbs, parsley, allspice, nutmeg, onion, garlic powder, pepper, salt and egg and hand mix until evenly combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into into 12 large or 20 small meatballs. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and one tablespoon of butter. Add the meatballs and cook, turning continuously until brown on each side and cooked throughout. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil.
  4. In the same skillet, add 4 tablespoons of butter and flour and whisk until brown. Slowly stir in beef broth and sour cream. Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard and bring to a simmer until the sauce begins to thicken. 
  5. Salt and pepper to taste and then return the meatballs back into the skillet
  6. Simmer for another 1-2 minutes and serve over egg noodles or rice.
